'Internet to the Outback' VISE
The recent post from Alice Springs reminded me
of a project that was recently promoted (by the
Adelaide Hills Amateur Radio Society) in a pres-
entation in Adelaide, namely:
"Internet to the Outback - A program jointly
funded by V.I.S.E., Dep't of Communications
and the Arts of Univ. of Ballarat, and
Hyundi Country Music Muster"
I got the impression that it was "City-people"
taking Internet to the Outback and - in the
process - getting the chance to live on Out-
back properties, experiencing the dismal
bandwidth rates that the telephone system
provides (or doesn't) to Outback customers
and, generally, helping people who live away
from the city get some value from the Internet,
for a change...
