you know i always try different and crazy things when something doesn't
work, as sometimes different approaches give a clue to finally working
out what the problem is.
so maybe the thing to do is to try the modem on a different operating
system like 95, NT, OS/2. using procomm or telix with windows or dos may
reset it somehow. is it new? take it back to the manufacturer, ring or
get in touch with their web site. also you may be able to update the
flash rom in the thing and that may fix the problem.
