StarOffice & FTP
Hi all,
I have been unsuccessful in trying to setup StarOffice from the supplied
SuSe 6.0 disks. The problem is that although a media key is supplied
with Staroffice in the SuSe box, setup requires a further step to
register or the program expires in 30 days. When I tried to register a
message appeared saying that there was a "runtime error". From scanning
the Net it appears others have had a similar registration problems and
there is no easy solution. Messages on the net indicate that
Stardivision may have changed their registration procedure and now there
is a glitch. As a consequence I have deleted SO 5 from the SuSe
installation.
I then tried downloading a free version of SO (64Mb)from
ftp:/mirror.aarnet.edu.au/Staroffice/unxlnxi/so501_01.tar (in
Netscape)but after a number of abortive attempts I gave it away because
of lost feeds. This site uses the REGET facility so I then tried to use
FTP and XFTP in Linux.
I can't get FTP to work at all and wondered if I need to configure
something first. I can't get it to work on the same box with Windows
either.!
Could someone please give me some help on this problem.
Thanks
Brenton Pettitt
