Make sure the model you get is supported by your intended linux
software.
Teac and Panasonic are both good reliable units.
I'd reccommend the panasonic cw-7502, unless you need the overburning
capabilities of the teac 55.

And definately don't get an IDE burner! You'll regret, very quickly.
