Re: Hackers from Brazil
Steve,
Can you clarify which version of "imapd" is vulnerable?
And for which CPU/OS?
The most frequent kind of attack I get is against the "imap" port.
But they never come in directly from Brazil.
I just had another imap attack today at 11:10.
That is additional to 10 attacks over the Easter break.
I just wonder whether it is Easter which has caused the huge
upsurge in hacker attempts or the war.
("Don't mention the war", I've been told yesterday, but I will anyway.)
Luckily linux redhat 5.2 seems to have no problem with
these attacks, but perhaps only because I firewall off the "imap"
functions. Can I safely un-firewall my imap if
I have an up-to-date version?
Cheers,
Alan Kennington.
PS. See http://topology.org/attacks/ for an overview
of attacks over Easter.
