One can only speculate what Mark was smoking when he decided to send
40 kBytes of 8-bit crap including lots of porn addresses to this Linux
list ! (Perhaps his X-Mailer header line helps to explain.)
We've heard about how linux can use procmail or sendmail to filter out
this rubbish. But further than that, and notwithstanding that I feel
_real_ sympathetic toward those EDS people that have to shut down whole
networks of the most advanced computing power that M$ has to offer, I
fail to see how this discussion can advance the linux community.
The only interesting thing I saw in Mr Placanica's message was at the
bottom of the headers:
X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.07 [en] (Win95; I)
MIME-Version: 1.0
To: Steven Ellison <sellison@pcsa.net.au>
CC: Jim Bickford <jim.bickford@flinders.edu.au>,

Resent-Message-ID: <"-difN.0.nD5.JiG0t"@Elizabeth.netcraft.com.au>
Resent-From: linuxsa@linuxsa.org.au
X-Mailing-List: <linuxsa@linuxsa.org.au> archive/latest/694
X-Loop: linuxsa@linuxsa.org.au
Precedence: list
Resent-Sender: linuxsa-request@linuxsa.org.au
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
X-MIME-Autoconverted: from 8bit to base64 by Elizabeth.netcraft.com.au id DAA21377
As I see it, the `X-MIME-Autoconverted' didn't do a very good job !
(Other MIME-readers might make more sense of this than mine.)
The only other consolation I get from this is that I'm not Jim Bickford
or Steven Ellison; they'll have to get this rubbish twice; on the list
AND via direct email.
Doesn't win95 have a popup that asks `are you sure you want to send this'?
