pppd connection problem.
G'day all
Im having a slight problem with connecting to one of my ISP's, using the
same script, off ozemails page to other ISP's, I have no problems.
The problem is, it sees its local IP as the network ip of the box
(192.168.1.1)
Mar 25 10:56:13 bonkable pppd[21192]: Serial connection established.
Mar 25 10:56:14 bonkable pppd[21192]: Using interface ppp0
Mar 25 10:56:14 bonkable pppd[21192]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/modem
Mar 25 10:56:17 bonkable pppd[21192]: local IP address 192.168.1.1
Mar 25 10:56:17 bonkable pppd[21192]: remote IP address 203.38.211.2
Even tho it is connected, properly, I doesent have _any_ internet activity.
I then changed my /etc/ppp/options file to *make* pppd get the ip from
server then get this..
Mar 27 16:16:08 bonkable pppd[2345]: Using interface ppp0
Mar 27 16:16:08 bonkable pppd[2345]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/modem
Mar 27 16:16:11 bonkable pppd[2345]: Could not determine local IP address
Mar 27 16:16:11 bonkable pppd[2345]: Connection terminated.
Mar 27 16:16:11 bonkable pppd[2345]: Exit.
I have talked with my ISP about this, He has no idea what is going on
either, I can connect to the ISP with a windows computer fine, and he has no
other user's having problems, altho i am the only linux user he probably
has.
The only think he says that has changed is when he went froma 64k line to a
128k his IP's changed around, and to change my name server IP to the new
one, well I wasent useing his name server in the first place.
I was able to connect to him with no problems before the change over of line
speed
Im running Redhat 5.2 apollo kernel 2.0.36
and my isp redhat 5.1 kernel 2.0.35 Manhattan
any help welcome, for me or my ISP, nither of us have a clue to why it is
doing this
Regards,
Adam
