Buying a printer for Linux

Hi,
    I want to buy a new pc before installing RH 5.2, but I noticed that
many printers these days say windoze       only. Does Linux have support
for these types of printers? Or do you have to buy one that works for
Linux as
well.

Oh yeah, also is the new Linux kernel 2.2 a stable or development
kernel?
