this has just happened to me too.....

i just upgraded to RH5.2 from (mostly) RH5.0, I had rebooted fine once,
and now it wont boot.

I ran fdisk off the emergency boot disk, and there is no partition table
at all. It gone. Kaput.

Is this a _very_ bad thing? 

If so, is there a way to salvage any data from it?

I believe the disk is OK (WDC 2gig)  and I have other Linux systems at my
disposal...
