Windowmaker

Hi All.

I have an interesting problem with Windowmaker that hopefully somebody
may know the solution to.

I set up my session (in particular, the background image) and then
ask windowmaker to save the session. Then I exit windowmaker gracefully
by using the exit windowmaker command in the root menu.

When I log back in, all of the settings (colours, apps open, window
positions of open apps, etc) are all restored. The only setting that
is not restored is my background image.

Checking the .xsession-errors file reveals the lines:
wmaker warning: could not load font -*-helvetica-r-normal-*-10-*-*-*-*-*-*-*.
Trying fixed
Could not open display!

Trying to set the background from the appearance menu results in
another line that says Could not open display! in the .xsession-errors
file.

Can anybody offer any suggestions. Also, does anybody know why the
helvetica font would be missing, or where i could get it from?
