/bin/login -- very wierd problem and ANNOYING :((

Hi All...

I have a big problem..

I have win98 and redhat 5.1 (mandrake) running on this box..

I just tried to boot into Linux and it got to the login prompt so I =
typed root

and pressed enter and it just cleared the screen and the login screenm =
came back up..

I saw an error message flash up very fast when it refreshed, so I =
restarted (CTRL-ALT-DELETE) and typed in linux single insteas at the =
lilo prompt...

this put me in a bash shell, so I tried to run /bin/login (as that is =
all I could see of the error message at the login prompt) and it said =
'login: can't resolve symbol '__xstat''

exactly like that..

this is very annoying as I would like to use linux rather than shitty =
winblows :((

PLESAE HELP ME QUICKLY AS I AM IN NEED:((((
