Win95 convert can't print in RH 5.1

Hi,

I am a new Linux user. I have a problem trying to print postcript in X
windows under Redhat 5.1 with my Canon BJC600 printer.
I have configured Print Manager and Printool such that etc/printcap
reads;

            ## PRINTOOL 3 ## LOCAL bjc600 360x360 a4 {} BJC600 3 {}
                        lp|BJC600:\
                                        : sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp1:\
                                        :mx#0:\
                                        :sh:\
                                        :lp=/dev/lp1:\
                                        :if=/var/spool/lpd/lp1/filter:

I have carried out the following print tests on lp1 in Print Manager ;
     Print ASC11 test page -OK

     Print Postcript test page
 	"-r must be followed by <res> or <xres>x<yres>" ?????
     What is this message conveying ?

     Print ASC11 directly to port-OK

When I issue the xterm command gs -dSAFER -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=BJC600
-sOutputFile= \ | lpr *.ps I receive the message "broken pipe". When I
issue the simple lpr *.ps command in gv 3.5.8 the printer activates but
then aborts
the sheet feed with the printed message "-r must be.....etc"(as above
for xterm).

I also notice that when I open *.ps in gv that it appears as
a *.dvi file ???? . Also PRINTOOL contains provision for "Extra GS
options" but I don't know how or if I need to use it.

To say the least I am frustrated after spending an inordinate
amount of time trying to get my printer up and working and would very
much appreciate some advice and help from experienced user on this list.

TIA

Brenton Pettitt
