Customs duty -- the customs site (www.customs.gov.au) is actually one of
the most useful and informative government sites around. For example,
I had always toyed with the concept of buying a car over in the US and
shipping it over here. However, customs duty make the process
prohibitive, even with US car prices (and that's before the costs of
importing and converting to right-hand drive).
OTOH, I find that I can order around 7 CDs and escape customs duty,
but many more end up getting it... (seems to be somewhat random tho)
