    I think that $140 is a bit steep as I have seen the cables for around $50 -
$70 fully built.
Future Music sell them for about $59 but Brashes used to sell them as well for a
bit less.
    With regard to the electronics, there is a diagram in the back of the Dick
Smiths catalog
that contains all of the pinouts / circutry if you want to build your own. I
wouldn't bother myself,
as the prebuilt cable look a lot neater.
