du of just one dev

how do I get du to just give me the root device
eg
 $/ df
Filesystem         1024-blocks  Used Available Capacity Mounted on
/dev/root             479968  405422    74546     84%   /
/proc                  71280   25400    45880     36%   /proc
/dev/dsk/dks0d4s7    2040753  759142  1281611     37%   /export/u

I want to find out the usage on /dev/root (sorry but this isnt a Linux
box)
